Fondant Icing, Gum Paste, Baking Ingredients
Fondant icing is a thick paste made primarily of water and sugar commonly used to decorate & cover cakes. RTR fondant is great for covering wedding cakes and leaves a smooth satiny surface. We have a wide range of RTR fondant icing from well known brands such as Bakels, Satin Ice, Menina, Renshaw, Wilton and more. To use fondant, simply knead fondant untile it is soft and pliable before rolling.
Tips for working with fondant icing
Work quickly as your icing will dry out quick and to avoid cracks.
Weather and humidity will affect your fondant. Humidity will make fondant icing sticky and cold weather will make it hard. This also applies to your hand so make sure your hands are not too cold or hot.
Fondant dries out quickly. Put unused fondant in a plastic wrap or cover it when unused.
Cover a cake that is at room temperature. Avoid covering cake straight from the fridge.
Tylose powder can we added to your fondant to make it dry hard (gumpaste).
