Also known as fondant, ready to roll icing or sugarpaste, this pliable and doughlike icing can be kneaded, moulded into shapes or rolled out like a pastry to cover most wedding or novelty cakes. Plastic icing gives cakes a matte and perfectly smooth finish and has a semi-soft texture. Food colours can be used to create coloured plastic icing. Instructions are included on packaging.
